Is Roland Martin Right?: Does Obama Need More White House Press Staff Diversity?
According to Roland Martin, there is a lack of diversity in the White House's press office. There are hardly any African-Americans or Hispanics on the staff. Unfortunately, this shouldn't come as a shock, because the campaign press staff of then-Sen. Barack Obama was just as weak on diversity.Just because there is a black president doesn't mean that issues like diversity should be cast aside. President Obama should be held to the same standard when it comes to this issue as any other occupier of that office. I am a former national board member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and my support for diversity never wavers, no matter who is running the show.

Congrats! Mike Tomlin
In an era where the hiring of black head coaches in the NFL is far and in between, I say congrats to Mike Tomlin, 36 year old, African-American head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tomlin was a beneficiary of the "Rooney Rule", which requires any team with a head coaching vacancy to interview at least one minority candidate (Dan Rooney is the owner of the Steelers). In fact, Tomlin credits his hiring to the Rooney Rule. "I have no question it helped me get this job," said Tomlin in 2006.
What will be the social ramifications of the second African-American coach leading a team to a Super Bowl win?
