I have worked retail for several years, you are trained to keep an eye on suspicious PEOPLE. However, that type of conduct would be completely out of line and in my opinion a fire-able offense. I would have never stood for one of my employees to single people out based solely on their skin color. In fact, I think I have experienced more white thieves than other races. Maybe the simple fact is that they believe that you are not paying attention to them because they are white. If I had been present in that store not only would I have wanted the woman to make a complaint I would want to speak to the highest person possible. Even if that meant getting the store owner on the phone. I would have made sure that the sales person was properly reported before leaving the store knowing that I would not return there again to do business.
