Excellent speech! I loved it. It truly inspired me. This is a very powerful and inspirational speech. I loved how he talked about the challenges he, Our First Lady Michelle Obama’s and other individuals faced. It is important for people to hear others stories and know they too can overcome. Every school or parent that refused their child/ student the privilege of hearing this message did them an injustice. There is not one part of this speech that a principle/ superintendent or parent can listen to and say students should not be taught or hear in this message. Everything in the speech I feel you should want to instill in your child. Hmmm, I wonder what part of this speech did school officials feel needed to be censored? The speech was placed online on the U.S education site in advance for viewing. Why was this necessary? Really now, President Obama is not the first president to give a speech to our students. What is all the fuss? The real issue is: A black man, who is the President of the United States, is getting up before our students and speaking. Perhaps we as a country have not accepted the fact our President is Black. It is so sad that whenever possible people try to attack President Obama. I for one will continue to pray for my President, I love him and love what he is doing for our country.

I hope after hearing this message students all over the world are inspired and take responsibility for their education.

One of my personal mottos is: “A negative past does not define your future”.

We as individuals have to stop making excuses. “Excuses are the tools of the incompetent, they build monuments of nothing. And those who use them are seldom worth anything more”. We have to take responsibility for ourselves and our future. “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.”
